How to use this solver
Type the letters on your rack in the main field. Add ? or spaces for blank tiles (up to three). Choose NYT Crossplay in the dropdown, then press SEARCH. The solver checks your letters against the dictionary and returns playable words sorted by Scrabble-style point value.
Match the board
Use the advanced filters when the board already gives you a pattern. Starts finds words with a required prefix, Ends finds words with a suffix, Contains keeps only words with specific letters together, and Length limits results to the exact word size you need.
Read the results
Scan the highest-scoring words first, then check which ones fit your board space. If the list is too broad, add a known letter, set a word length, or replace an uncertain tile with a wildcard to explore more options without starting over.
Frequently asked questions
What is NYT Crossplay?
NYT Crossplay is a competitive word game from The New York Times. This tool helps you find valid words from your rack, similar to a Scrabble-style helper, with support for blank tiles as wildcards.
How do wildcards work?
Use ? or a space for each blank tile. You can use up to three wildcards. Each wildcard can stand for any letter when matching dictionary words.
What do Starts, Ends, Contains, and Length do?
These optional filters narrow results: Starts requires a prefix, Ends a suffix, Contains requires a substring anywhere in the word, and Length fixes the word length (2–10). Leave length blank to search all lengths (results capped for speed).
